The University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) is a public university located in Clear Lake, Texas. Alpha Sigma Tau (AST) was founded in 1899 at Michigan State Normal College (now Eastern Michigan University) in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The sorority’s mission is to “promote the ethical, cultural, and social development of its members, while contributing to the larger community through service and philanthropy.” AST’s philanthropic efforts focus on supporting women’s heart health through the American Heart Association.
Delta Zeta (DZ) was founded in 1902 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. The sorority’s mission is to “develop strong, confident women who inspire the world around them.” DZ’s philanthropic efforts focus on supporting the Starkey Hearing Foundation, which provides hearing aids and related services to people in need around the world.
To join a sorority at UHCL, students must participate in a formal recruitment process that takes place at the beginning of each academic year.
