UDC is the oldest HBCU in Washington D.C. It was established in 1851 by Myrtilla Miner. It is the only public university in Washington D.C. At the university, you can study for workforce and certificate programs, associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. The campus has a diverse student population making it feel inclusive. The staff lecturers and other employees at the university are friendly and attentive to students.

The average amount for Room and board is $16 425. This is cheap for out-of-state and in-state students. The average tuition for in-state students nationally is $11 331 and 27,028 for out-of-state students. 

UDC also has fee waivers for some of its students meaning they get to go to the university for free. Only the students who attended the District of Columbia high school can get a fee waiver. In addition, the waiver is only available to those students if they apply immediately after high school graduation and if they have financial problems. 

Students who graduated from UDC Community College who apply for a bachelor’s program don’t have to apply for the fee waiver. They automatically get the fee waiver, and they don’t have to send any documentation.
