Interviewer’s perspective

  • If you send thank you notes it will show your professionalism. Since it is a campus interview the thank you mail will make you stand out.
  • It is a good way to build your contact with him or her that will help you in different ways for career growth or even for your further attempts at any other job interviews.
  • Interviewers are familiar with thank you letters so if your mail seems little different it attracts them.
  • Recruiter will at least remember your name during the selection process.

5 mistakes to avoid in thank you mail:

  • You should not drag the content. Just make it short and simple.
  • Thanking is the main concept here so, don’t ask about results.
  • It is always okay to ask for feedback but don’t be direct because it may sound rude.
  • If you receive a reply for your thank you mail don’t emphasize the meaning because it is not an accurate sign of selection or rejection.
  • Once you receive the reply don’t keep on texting to the interviewer unless it is something important.

Sample thank you email

Sub : Thank you for your pleasant time.

Hi mam/sir/interviewer name,

This is (your name), I would like to thank you for the amazing interview session with me today. It was a great time. Wishing to see the further growth or [upcoming (project or product)] of the company and I’m glad to know if you wish to give me any feedback on my performance today.

Looking forward to your reply, have a good day.

Thank you.

  • The mail can be short and up to the point
  • Sometimes you can also send a long sweet paragraph for thanking but make sure that it is essential. In this case you can share the best topics you have discussed or something you missed to say in the interview. Do this only if the interview was liberal and mostly if it is an abroad company.

What if ‘no reply’

It is not a bad sign if you don’t get a reply. The interviewer may be a little busy to reply. You can even get the offer. Infact, the reply is not the final result right? ☺

  • Don’t send continuous messages.
  • Wait till your result comes.
  • If it takes a longer time than you expected for the result you can ask them for the result.
  • Be in contact.

Not necessary

  • It is not necessary to reply to the response mail you got for your thank you mail. Just acknowledge that and give a short reply if you want.
  • It is not necessary to mention all your information in thank you mail. Only mention your name, date of the interview and job role(optional).
  • It is not necessary to send the thank you email after 24 hours of the interview.
  • Don’t just ask them for immediate results.

Conclusion

The more you talk to professional people the more you learn about the professional environment. Always feel free to initiate a conversation if needed. Boldness is the central soft skill to score. If you think that your interview was not that good try working on the skills you lack in. Wait with patience or move on with hope.
