When Robert Morris University was founded in 1921, the name under which it came into existence was the Pittsburgh School of Accountancy, which was founded by Andrew Blass. It was the year 1963 when the university had been opened on two different campuses and had raised three residential buildings for accommodation.
And in the year 1969, the name Robert Morris junior college was finally changed to Robert Morris College.

Athletics
The sports team of Robert Morris University is known as the “Colonials”. It is their nickname. The name “colonials” got it from one of the university presidents.
The university is famous for its football team, which has defeated many teams in inter-college competitions and also in many state-level games. The women’s basketball team also set many records and brought home rewards for their outstanding performance.
The colonials were also ranked first in Miami for their outstanding performance in ice hockey. But there was a piece of sad news for the ice hockey team. Due to some unavoidable circumstances and low funding, the ice hockey program was terminated at the university. Both men’s and women’s teams broke down with the news and thought that campus would never see the ice hockey teams again, but a ray of hope has been in students as the president announced a few days ago that the university has planned a fund program and it went as planned. With the 2023 batch, ice hockey will again be played on the campus.
