This university is also known as Utah Tech University. 

The college was established on September 19, 1911. 

The college was founded by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints also called LSD Church. 

This university was previously called St. George Academy.

The name of the university has a very interesting turn to it as the name ‘Dixie’ is the nickname of the place ‘Utah’ where the college is situated.

 Dixie University follows the official rules and regulations of the Utah System of Higher Education. 

The college is accredited to NWCCU which is also known as the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities which is a committee under the education ministry department of the United States of America government. 

The students of this college often refer to themselves by the nickname Trailblazers. 

The college has its professional football and swimming team both for boys and girls and their sports department is affiliated with the NCAA which is National Collegiate Athletic Association and they belong to the rank Division 2. 

The mascot of the college athletic group is Brooks the Bison. 

The official uniform color of Dixie State University is white, red and navy blue. 

Dixie State University is situated in an urban area and its campus area is nearly 100.11 acres, the college also has its off-campus residential area and sports stadium arena of about 97.11 acres. 

Throughout these years the university has changed its name several times. Till the year 2000, the college’s name was Dixie College which provided a two-year junior college program. Then from 2000 to 2013, the college’s name changed to Dixie State College which started providing undergraduate degrees to the students. Then in 2013, the College started providing postgraduate degrees, thus its name changed to Dixie State University. And finally, in November 2021, the college authority decided to change its name to Utah Tech University this proposal was confirmed by the state legislature of Utah when they passed the bill and the college has started to use it since 15th May 2022.

Admission procedure of Dixie State University

The admission procedure at Dixie State University is completely based on irrespective of caste, color, race, gender, nationality, marital status, social status, age, and religion. 

The entrance to Dixie state university is very competitive. The acceptance rate for American residents is 91% and that for international students is as low as 2%. They are very selective when it comes to choosing the students in different courses in their college. If you survive till the very end you will end up getting a high-rank white collar job as this college has a 100% rate in providing internships.  The university accepts students for semesters of fall, summer, and spring.

Freshmen- applicable for both International and American students

  • Get a GPA of 2.8 out of 4.

  • Complete trailblazer prep and participate in New Student Orientation.
  • Only the international students have to clear the CaMLA- EPT- general English testing and Utah Tech Writing Assessment both conducted by the university.

Transfer students

applicable for students who previously attended high school in this university but left after graduating to enter another college or university.

Returning students

students who attended this university after their high school graduation but have not attended classes for the last three or more semesters.

Non- degree-seeking students

students who are attending this university just for entertainment. Applicable only to American students.

  • To get the benefits of this course the student must have passed the secondary school.

Graduate students – American citizens

  • Submit the university’s graduate application form.
  • Pay the application fees of $55
  • Submit the documents as required by the various departments.
  • An SAT score of a minimum of 900 to get admission.

Graduate students- international

  • Clear the English proficiency exams like TOEFL with a score of 550 for a paper-based test, 79 on the internet-based exam, and 213 for a computer-based test or clear IELTS with a score of 6.0.

  • Submit the documents as required by the various departments.

For high school students applicable only to American residents

Schools that want their students to complete their high school studies in the university are referred to as concurrent enrolments

  • Submit an online concurrent enrolment application form.
  • Pay the application fees.
  • Should be a high school junior or senior.
  • Have a GPA of a minimum of 3.0 out of 4.
  • ACT or SAT score or clear the Accuplacer Test.

Students who want to attend university willingly and have not graduated from high school are called early enrolments.

  • Submit a permission form filled up by the guardian or parents of the candidate.
