It is the most challenging aspects of e-campus course which allows student to interact as a class. The discussion members have their own thoughtful decisions that takes place in classrooms. We can easily share or ask our ideas or any queries to the other members and also can give reply to them. Let us see how to delete a thread on blackboard discussion as a student.
You can take time and consider your responses carefully as all the participants don’t need to be in the same location or the time zone. This tool can also enhance our communication skills with your instructors or colleagues depending on the individual courses. You can access the discussion board through the menu of courses on the content page of your preferred course, that leads to discussion blackboard.
How Do You Delete A Thread On Blackboard Discussion As A Student?
Component of a discussion board
There are two main components of discussion board:
Forums and threads.
Forums
The main board of discussion shows the list of available discussion forums .A discussion board may have one or more than one forum. Basically a forum is an area where a topic or a group of related topics are discussed. Each forum displays a number of unread posts ,total number of posts and total number of participants.
Within each forums the participant can create a multiple threads .When your leader creates a forum, they may or may not let us start thread. it can contains meaningful conversations, exchange of each other’s ideas and perspective.
Threads
A thread is a conversation among all the participants within a forum. Each individual has their own thread.
For example, If instructor has given you a topic named “facts about fishes” next you have to reply your views so the replies in forums can also be called as threads. Each reply creates a new thread.
The thread may have conversation, arguments or discussion of any assignment related to the topic of the forum. It is a single focused topic ,all the comments concerning the topic are listed with it.
Steps to work on the discussion board
As we have discussed the main tools of discussion boards. We have some steps to work on the discussion board.
To open discussion board
Step 1 : Find the discussion board on the course menu and select ‘tools’ then discussion board.
Step 2 : The main page appears with the different available discussion forums .
Step3 : Select a forum title and open the threads of post.
To create a new thread
Step 1 : Go to a forum that has a thread creation tab.
Step 2 :Click create thread to open a new create thread page.
Step 3 :On the create thread page type your subject what you have entered here will be seen on the forum.
Step 4 :Type your message or reply.
Step 5 : Attach a file, if you want .
Step 6 : Click submit.
If you are not ready to post your thread click draft.
To reply a thread and post
Once you have opened any forum and have entered the thread you can reply anyone who has posted the thread.
To reply:
Step 1: Click the post you want to reply.
Step 2 :Click reply to open the reply post page.
Step 3 :Enter a new subject.
Step 4 :Enter your reply in the message area.
Step 5 : Include attachment , if needed.
Step 6 : Click submit.
To include a quote in a reply
Step 1: When responding ,click quote (if enabled) ,to open the reply post page.
Step 2: The quoted text appears in the message area with the line to the left.
Step 3: Enter your reply in the message area beneath the quoted text ,if you would not like to include the quoted text you can easily delete the text from the message area.
Step 4: Include attachments, if allowed or needed.
Step 5: Click submit.
Deleting a thread in blackboard discussion
To delete a thread in blackboard discussion as a student is easy and straightforward. To delete the steps are:
Step 1: Go to your blackboard course where the discussion thread, you want to remove is placed.
Step 2 : Click the ‘Discussion board’ link on the left hand side of the page.
Step 3 : On this page you can see many forums, Click the forum in which the thread is located ,which you want to delete.
Step 4: On the thread page look for the post you want to delete.
Step 5: Find the menu on your post and click the downwards facing arrow.
Step 6: From the drop down menu select the option that shows ‘edit’.
Step 7: After selecting edit option the post will give you access to edit it.
Step 8: At the bottom of the post you will see the delete button.
Step 9: Click the delete button.
Step 10: A prompt will display ,asking you to confirm your deletion.
Step 11: Confirm and select yes, the post will be deleted.
Note– You can only delete your posts, not of the other students or instructors. Deleting the post will remove it permanently.
Now, We have learned to use the tools in the discussion blackboard. Let’s take a look on the following considerations when participating in any discussion:
- Treat others and their point of views with respect.
- Use proper grammar ,spellings and complete the whole sentences.
- Avoid using all capital letters.
- Avoid using shortcuts or chatting language.
- Thing before you post, provide thoughtful and informative responses.
