SUNY Geneseo, a public liberal arts college in upstate New York, currently has four active sororities on campus: Alpha Delta Epsilon, Alpha Kappa Phi, Phi Kappa Pi, and Sigma Kappa. Alpha Delta Epsilon (ADE) was founded at SUNY Geneseo in 1975 and is the oldest sorority on campus. ADE’s mission is to promote scholarship, leadership, and service among its members. Alpha Kappa Phi (AKP) was founded at SUNY Geneseo in 2000 and is one of the newest sororities on campus. AKP’s mission is to promote sisterhood, scholarship, and service. Phi Kappa Pi (PKP) was founded at SUNY Geneseo in 1988 and is committed to promoting sisterhood, scholarship, and service. PKP is involved in a number of philanthropic activities, including supporting local charities and organizing events to raise awareness about important social issues.
Sigma Kappa (SK) was founded at SUNY Geneseo in 2017 and is the newest sorority on campus. SK’s mission is to promote sisterhood, scholarship, and service. The organization is involved in a number of philanthropic activities, including supporting the Alzheimer’s Association and organizing events to raise awareness about important social issues.
Each sorority has its own unique recruitment process, which typically takes place at the beginning of the fall semester. Prospective members are encouraged to attend information sessions and recruitment events hosted by each organization to learn more about their values and activities. The recruitment process culminates in Bid Day, when potential new members are offered bids to join a sorority.
In addition to the four sororities on campus, SUNY Geneseo also has a number of other student organizations that provide opportunities for students to connect with others who share similar interests or identities. These organizations include but are not limited to:
- Black Student Union: A group dedicated to promoting the interests and well-being of Black students on campus.
- Pride Alliance: A group that provides support and advocacy for LGBTQ+ students at SUNY Geneseo.
- Women’s Action Coalition: A group that promotes women’s empowerment and gender equality on campus.
