The University of Cumberlands Is a private school located in Williamsburg, Kentucky. It was first known as the Williamsburg Institute, which was founded on January 7th,1889.
On April 6th,1888 the Kentucky State Legislature incorporated the college. Three of the Highland College buildings were bought by the university in 1907, then later in 1913, its name was changed from the Williamsburg Institute to Cumberland College before it was later changed in 2005 to the University of the Cumberlands.
The university has about 13,000 students that are enrolled in the school. The university motto is Vita Abundantior, which means A Life More Abundant.
The University of the Cumberlands is in the first division of the NAIA and they are competing primarily in the Midsouth Conference.

The University Athletic team is called the Patriots.
