Introduction
Most of us haven’t come to the reality of the fact that conventional education, like going to college, is important but not necessarily important to be successful in life. As long as we keep treating the conventional education system as a ticket to a successful life, the more disappointed, more frustrated, and stranded we may become. But we have to treat the education we have acquired as a foundation upon which we would build the temple of our success. Let’s talk, What else can you do instead of College.
One can do several things instead of college such as E-learning, learning programming languages and sales, gaining digital skills, and more. We have to realize that an educated person is capable of getting whatever he wants without violating the rights of others.

Why You Should Consider Something Else Instead Of College
The following are the reasons to consider something else instead of college:
1. Unemployment.
The rate of global unemployment is nothing to write home about. As the population of the world tends to increase daily, the employment opportunities available become highly competitive. This is another reason why we have to be more prepared both in the college and outside the college.
2. The world needs a problem solver.
The world is no longer interested in what you know, they are much more concerned about what you can do with what you know. The theories you accumulated in college are completely irrelevant if you can’t use them to solve a problem. Learning something else instead of college will provide you with the opportunity to become a problem solver, of course, that’s what the world needs at the moment.
3. Applied Knowledge is power.
You’re such a powerful person if you can apply what you know to get things done faster than everyone else. A water reservoir can’t quench a city’s thirst if it’s not allowed to follow and be supplied to every household. Some of the knowledge we acquired from college is outdated and inapplicable. So if you can do something with what you know without going to college then you’re one of the most powerful people on earth!
4. Fast-moving World.
The rate at which the world is moving is startling! And I will like to state that, some schools today won’t teach you what is going to happen in the world tomorrow! The most important skill today is the ability to learn fast because what you know yesterday has become obsolete today. So to stay updated, you have to learn fast, and regrettably, college won’t provide you with that opportunity.
The Following Are What You Should Do Instead Of College.
1. E-learning.
If you want to become a lawyer or a doctor you need formal education but if you want to become an entrepreneur you don’t need to. The fact is that some careers don’t need formal education. As a result of this, you can learn virtually anything on the internet. There are large chunks of free and paid resources you can use to learn any skills slowly and quickly as you want.
2. Learn Programming languages.
The importance of learning a Programming language can never be overestimated. It’s an undeniable fact that learning how to Code can change your life for the better. Because as a programmer, you can create any products that have global importance and usage. And it’s on record that most tech giant companies, like Facebook, to begin with, have workers who have little or no college experience.
The beauty of learning to code is that you have free resources to learn it and there are large communities on the field who are willing to assist your learning process. I’m currently learning web development alongside going to school. The learning journey is a tough one but the guarantee is that it’s possible to make a decent living as a programmer. If you’re interested in learning about programming languages, you can start with Python or JavaScript.
3. Learn Sales.
The fact is that more salespeople have become millionaires and if you can’t sell you won’t be rich. So learning how to sell is an all-important skill. There are countless sales books to read, podcasts to listen to, and seminars to attend to sharpen your skills in sales. The interesting part of it is that you can sell anything possible!
All you need is to learn how. Technology has digitalized sales careers, because the more people you can reach out to, the higher the chances of finding who would buy. So if you’re looking for a college alternative, I think a sales career is a good option. You don’t need a college degree to be a great salesperson.
4. Digital Skills
Apart from learning how to code, there are numerous digital Skills you can learn like content writing, copywriting, video editing, etc.
You don’t necessarily need to be in college to learn and master those skills. All you need is the self-discipline to follow through with the process and you won’t regret not going to college.
Conclusion
The point is that, if you have the means to go to college, fine but the lack of opportunity to go to college should be seen as a blessing in disguise. It’s obvious that technology has disrupted and would continue to disrupt the old ways of doing things. It, therefore, becomes a necessity to ascertain what you could do instead of college. The advancement of Edu-tech, an online institution of learning, has made college gradually lose its relevance in our current generation.
