Ralph Voorhees, a wealthy donor who helped the college raise money when it first started, was honored by naming the building after him.

Voorhees College is on a beautiful 365-acre campus in the town of Denmark, South Carolina. Columbia, which is the capital city of South Carolina, is about an hour and a half by car from the campus. Over 3,500 people live in the town of Denmark, and it’s easy for them to get to larger cities like Augusta, Georgia, and Charleston, South Carolina. Even though Denmark is a big town, it has a quiet, small-town feel. 

Academic Programs 

Voorhees College offers bachelor’s degree programs in many different areas of study, such as Business Administration, Criminal Justice, English, Mathematics, Sociology, and Computer Science, to name a few. At this school, it is also possible to get a minor in music. The college is made up of four departments, which are called divisions: the Division of Business and Entrepreneurship, the Division of Humanities, the Division of Social Sciences, and the Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. Voorhees College provides students who are interested in pursuing professions in education with the opportunity to participate in a Teacher Education Program. 

Student Life

During the school year, the campus is also the site of a number of events, such as the Miss Voorhees College Pageant, Homecoming Week, and the Founder’s Day Festival. 

Voorhees College is a member of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), which is in charge of college sports in the US (GCAC). Men’s and women’s basketball teams, as well as men’s and women’s cross country and track and field teams, are all supported by the college.
