In colleges, there are many other ways to engage and socialize and even they are much better. There are even trips also for 3-4 days field trips and even more but later. Special club events and campus-wide events are also available to participate in.

The university called the University of Illinois is the first university that conducts a week-long celebration called homecoming. The other universities earlier state the claim dates but the Illinois University is the first university that have a full week of homecoming events. 

There is only one year in which homecoming does not organize because of the influenza pandemic. Homecoming is started in 1910 and in 1918 they are not able to organize. Still, the football game is happening. 

Along with the football game, in the week of homecoming events, the annual homecoming parade is the longest-lasting tradition.
