Butler University Admission Requirements And GPA

Butler University is a private university that is located in Indianapolis, Indiana. Butler University has a good reputation and it is known for being a liberal arts university. For undergraduates, butler university admission requirements for financial aid application require that the applicant has at least a 3.0-grade point average (GPA). In addition, the applicant must meet the following admission requirements:

General entry requirements

1. Standardized Tests

As part of the application process, Butler applicants are required to submit:

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

These tests measure how well students write and communicate in English. If you are a current student at Butler, you can take the TOEFL or IELTS for free. If you have taken these tests in the past, you must request to have the results submitted. To request a testing window, call (844) 444-5050, or e-mail studentaffairs@butler.edu.

The ACT is required for those interested in admission to undergraduate programs at Butler. For students applying to undergraduate programs in business and the health professions, the ACT is generally required. However, if Butler has a program that you would be interested in, you can request for the ACT to be considered in the admissions process. This request can be made through the online application.

The SAT is required for those interested in admission to graduate programs. The test is more challenging than the ACT, and there are fewer test centres around the country. The test is highly technical and requires advanced preparation and knowledge of the language being used on the test. However, some programs, such as law school, require the SAT.

The GMAT is required for those seeking admission to graduate programs in business, education, and the health professions.

2. Academic Writing

Students in the BSBA program have been placed into one of the following departments for academic writing based on writing sample performance:

  • English (required for students entering with an English major)
  • Business (required for students entering with a major in business)
  • Nursing (required for students entering with a nursing major)

3. English Writing Proficiency

An average score of 12 points or higher on the TOEFL or IELTS.

4. Academic History

The minimum total of all coursework that a student must complete with a “C” or better to be considered for admission is 30 hours of credit.

The physical health exam, including the vision examination, is an integral part of the admissions process. Butler College has several locations where this physical examination is performed. Academic misconduct, including cheating or fraud, will not be accepted as justification for removal from Butler. Students may be denied admission for reasons related to academic misconduct, including:

  • Theft of goods from a school store or office
  • Intentional damage to school property
  • Violation of local, state, or federal law that is not in direct violation of school policies or the law of a city, town, or state in which the college is located

Students will not be released from the school for acts of negligence.

To be admitted to Butler’s health professions programs:

  • A minimum score of 22 on the DAT (National Nursing Exit Exam)
  • A minimum score of 22 on the NCLEX-RN® (National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nursing)
  • A minimum score of 22 on the DAT (Doctor of Audiology – National Test of Admission)
  • A minimum score of 22 on the NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nursing)
  • A minimum score of 26 on the DAT (Doctor of Audiology – National Test of Admission)
  • A minimum score of 60 on the DAT (Doctor of Audiology – National Test of Admission)
  • A minimum score of 67 on the NCLEX-RN® (National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nursing)
  • A minimum score of 67 on the NCLEX-RN® (National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nursing)
  • A minimum score of 64 on the DAT (Doctor of Audiology – National Test of Admission)
  • A minimum score of 72 on the NCLEX-RN® (National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nursing)
  • A minimum score of 70 on the NCLEX-RN® (National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nursing)

To be considered for admission to the Business program at Butler University, students must meet the following minimum requirements:
