Items That Will Be In Short Supply This Christmas

Christmas is always a season full of joy, various activities, and expectations, these expectations can come from families, friends, and children who are not excluded. It is a season of gratitude, for both the rich and the poor. While expectations are high, this is not the case for some families due to financial constraints and the availability of goods and services. Lets start with Items That Will Be In Short Supply This Christmas.

Items That Will Be In Short Supply This Christmas

Christmas, both the previous and this year, cannot be exciting, it has been characterized by wars, pandemics, and other vices.

The privileged and the less privileged

While the average and the rich are all looking for the necessary items to buy, poor families are only looking for means to feed and maybe have a few changes of clothes. The wealthy are looking for fancy, glamorous and expensive decorations for their homes, including a change of car and clothing. The only problem they may encounter is “where do we buy? And availability”.

So let’s take a look at some items that will be in short supply this Christmas.

As a result of the pandemic that has affected the world in health, mental and otherwise, including the Russian and Ukrainian wars, many people are subjected to drugs and other medical supplies.

So the number one supply shortage will be;

Drugs and medical supplies.

These items will be in short supply this Christmas due to the displaced people in need of medication and medical care in the war-ravaged camps.

Amid the pandemic, with high demand for vaccines for those affected and not, vaccines will be in short supply.

 The Christmas seasons are associated with foggy weather conditions, which usually results in viral infections such as;

Cold, coughs, inflammation of the lungs and chest, also known as (pneumonia), conjunctivitis, known as (Apollo) and other related bacteria accompany the Harmattan season. Medicines needed to address these problems will be in short supply.

Food and agricultural products.

Food will be in short supply this Christmas, that’s because it has always been, even though we have it in abundance, the prices will skyrocket. One of the factors that will contribute to its shortage is the war between Russia and Ukraine. The effects have reduced the supply of agricultural products in these countries and many others.

These countries are giants in exporting cereals, barley, and cooking oil, particularly to African and Middle Eastern countries. With these effects, suppliers and resellers will raise the prices of these necessary items.

Petroleum products and transportation

The oil product has been and will be short of supply this Christmas, due to hoarding and refusal to sell to the public, independent marketers and station owners, always want a price increase at the pump, they prefer to sell to black marketers, or sell at high prices at night to those in dire need of it.

This singular act will cause the product to become scarce and the effects will have a greater impact on flights and other means of transport, adding to the increase in transportation fares, and passengers will become stranded at airports and stations.

Power (electricity)

This particular item is always running out of stock every Christmas. In some countries, power-holding companies take pleasure in this blackout attitude every Christmas. Perhaps for their selfish interest, other countries may experience this same shortage due to war or other disruptions in their energy sector.

Money

Money has been, and always will be scarce in circulation during this period, due to the high demand for exchange rates and withdrawal from banks.

In some countries, banks have daily withdrawal limits for their customers during the Christmas period, they also experience network failure during the Christmas period due to constant activity.

Other luxury items that are in short supply are;

Christmas trees and decorations.

This is the number one thing that middle and rich families find very appealing, some families can spend a reasonable amount of money on this lovely piece, it’s where you know, “who’s who”. Due to the high demand, the item will run out of stock and circulation.

Conclusion

When items are in short supply during the Christmas period.

In the first place, it can be the fault of the manufacturers, this is because every manufacturer or entrepreneur wants to make extra money on the items produced or purchased. Forgetting there are consequences for their actions. Some of these goods if not sold out during the Christmas season will become out of trend, especially those that were necessities at that time. Secondly, people are fond of trends, so when a particular item is so desired by many, that item becomes scarce, because everyone wants to have it at that particular time. Another cause is the “system character”. It Can’t change if not checked.

Frequently Asked questions

How does one avoid this scarcity?

We cannot avoid these shortcomings.

Because the systems can’t change unless the people who control these aforementioned industries start doing the right thing. And if the government starts implementing its good policies where it is needed,  the character of the people in the sectors where these shortages are rising from changed, then we will experience a tremendous change.

Quite often, the government grants some of these bourgeois monopolistic privileges and preferences to dominate the market.

 The other groups of entrepreneurs who would have done well are pushed aside because they are not in the good book of government. This is the “character of the systems” we found ourselves.

What about the luxury items mentioned above?

To avoid a shortage of supplies for the items, mentioned earlier the,

  • Cars.
  • The Christmas tree and decorations.
  • Nice clothing and so on.

People can place their orders from the shops or the manufacturer’s carts, some of these items are displayed there, you can order and pay and you may also make requests for custom items and products you wish not to be produced. The chances of acquiring them are high, but it can be done if you are willing and have the money to pay.
