Is There Greek Life At Fairfield University?

Is There Greek Life At Fairfield University?

However, on this page, you’ll verify whether or not there is Greek life at Fairfield.

Does Fairfield Have Greek Life?

The University since its inception has neither had nor authorized Greek life. Greek life has always been forbidden at Jesuit universities because it was thought to be incompatible with the Jesuit ideals. It wasn’t just the Jesuits who were against greek life at Catholic universities; it was the Catholic Church as well. But that isn’t the reason Fairfield University doesn’t have a Greek system.

The administration stated that Fairfield University’s lack of Greek life isn’t due to its status as a Jesuit institution. Rather, they claim that there is no Greek system because it is unnecessary as the different societies and available social activities meet the objectives and goals of Greek life programs.

There is no Greek life since students have not proved that Fairfield does not give a result that a Greek system can provide that the university’s unit of student activities does not provide, that a non-Greek club or society may offer.

Students’ Desires

In years past, Greek life at Fairfield University was a topic that was rarely discussed among students. This is clear from the fact that they do not connect with Greek life regularly.

In an informal survey, it was reported that more than 90% of those interviewed have a friend or relative who is or used to be a part of Greek life. This familiarity with the club seems to fade out as a student of the university.

However, some students of the university expressed that they would like the institution to change its policy to allow the Greek system but this is seemingly hard to achieve as the university has not given space to allow fraternities to exercise their activities.
