History
A County wide election led to its establishment. Following which, a board was elected, bond passed, personnel hired, curriculum established. First classes were held in 1969.

Admission Process
- The candidate should be at least 18 years of age with a high school graduation approved by regional accrediting association or State board of education or equivalent.
- A candidate below 18 years of age can enrol for the same only on scoring 93 or more in PSAT, 930 in SAT, 22 in ACT and pass mark in AIMS. Home-schooled students are exempted.
- College officials admit the students for vocational courses on meeting the requirements.

- First payment is to be done following registration. Select a payment plan( aids, scholarships, military benefits or self – pay).
- Select a lodging option at MyYC- Go to ‘Students’-My residency status.
- Login to MyYC , click on ‘ my advisor’s to consult your admission advisor.

There is the provision of grants and scholarships from the College, State and Federal Government. Most aids are first come, first served. The scholarship application in the official website of the college needs to be filled before the deadline, that is ; may for fall and November for spring for the consecutive year. Education loans can also be availed by the students if needed.
Students Club
YC supports student clubs and organisations as they believe that it will promote educational , social, recreational and personal development of students. Moreover, students are free to organize and participate in voluntary clubs and organisations of their own choice duly keeping in mind YC Student Code of Conduct, general college policies and local and State and federal law.
Roughriders
The college athletic team have shown their athletic excellence by winning National Championship in soccer, baseball, softball and cross country.
Currently there are two men and two women intercollegiate teams of soccer , baseball, volleyball and softball respectively , which compete in division 1 of The National Junior College Athletics Association.
Arizona Community College Athletics Conference (ACCAC) is a league of 15 community colleges in Arizona. YC is also one of its active members.
The college also owns Ustrem.tv account for streaming and broadcasting sporting events online.
