A brief history of hanover college
Hanover College was founded in 1827 and is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church. The school’s history began with Rev. John Finley Crowe.
Rev. Crowe opened the Hanover academy in a miniature cabin near his home. The Presbyterian Synod proposed to adopt the school on the condition that there was a Theological department in 1829. The Academy’s Board of Trustees accepted the proposal promptly which saw the construction of a building to ensconce the academy and the new Indian Seminary. A new charter was issued declaring the academy; Hanover College on Jan 1, 1833. The Board of Trustees 1849 voted to purchase a 200-acre farm – this land that overpasses the Ohio river is the campus’ location today.
The college’s president is Lake Lambert who started as president in 2013 till date.
